ESET NOD32 Antivirus owns, even on a corporate environment.
So yesterday I was set in charge of replacing my workplaces aging Trend Micro antivirus with a brand new NOD32 installation. We were already using and selling ESET’s NOD32 to some of our customers when some of us on the tech department discovered it about a year ago and quickly found out that this little antivirus is not only super lightweight but seems to have some of the best detection percentage ever.
So we passed on this information to our marketing department and we quickly started selling it to most of our customers that requested an antivirus. Before that we usually sold Trend Micro’s PC-Cillin, and while it was not too bad (not Symantec bad) it was still a little on the heavy side.
So I was glad to find out that ESET’s approach to managing a wide range of machines consists of basically the same simple antivirus software and a simple and modular server side component and management console. This allows you to create a customized installation package of the antivirus itself all preset with the options you choose and then deploy them to the workstation machines. The console then allows you to do the usual management of other similar solutions. It is very simple and intuitive but they still supply a great user manual.
I still haven’t got a lot of experience managing it since the whole installation is only one day old, but first thoughts about the solution managing about 20 computers are very positive. ESET is definitely on the right track and turning out to have some of the best (already the best IMHO) antivirus products in the market today. And the best of all is that their solution is much cheaper than most of the so called “big” AV companies.
So if you’re looking for a good antivirus product whether it’s for a single machine or for your entire network, check it out, I definitely recommend it.
