Installed Mac OS X
Yesterday I finally deleted my windows vista partition that I never used more than about 3 or 4 times (i’m sticking with XP) and decided to give Apple’s Mac OS X a try. I followed this great guide and was up and running in no time. Almost everything worked perfectly after install except for the sound, I have an Asus P5E motherboard and the soundcard wasn’t detected right away, but a quick search on Insanelymac forums quickly solved my main problem that was getting sound to work, it only works on 2 channels so I can’t enjoy 5.1 for now, but since it’s basically just for testing and learning it will do just fine.
First thoughts about the OS is that it is very fast and responsive, I have previously only used Mac OS X very briefly on some friends macbooks so I’m still inexperienced with it but I’m having a good time exploring things.
Still, I don’t see myself switching from XP anytime soon because in my personal opinion it’s currently the best desktop OS. I will keep OS X installed and play with it some more though, it sure beats having a Vista instalation that I never login anyway.
