To all the haters: why we use ads on our blogs and sites
And by “we” I really mean “I”, but I’m pretty sure a lot of other bloggers and website owners share this opinion to some degree.
Do you know those people (that I can feel free to say whatever I want about them because they have surely seen the ads and immediately clicked the back button) that seem to exist solely for the purpose of pointing out that you have ads on your site? These are the kind of people that even if you posted the cure for cancer or the unified theory on your site and happened to have ads on it, they would dismiss the great finding and go back to wherever they came from and bitch about the ads that you have on your site…
The irony here is that these are the same kind of people that surf the web for hours straight and are virtually ad blind, but as soon as you give them a link to your site, then you must surely be trying to rip them off or make money at their expense.
So if you are one of those people and made it this far, I have a couple of things to say to you:
First: Get Firefox, install the Adblock add-on and shut the fuck up already!
Second: when you see ads on TV (you probably know it as MTV), hear them on the radio, see them on the streets or read them on the papers, do you have the same reaction as when you see ads on websites? Do you immediately turn to the person next to you and bitch about them? Of course not, you ignore them most of the time, sometimes you actually see/hear/read them, and every once in a while I’m pretty sure you actually buy something because of the freaking ad. So what’s the big deal if some of us place some ads on our sites? Seriously… there must be better things you can do besides bitch about them, like reading the actual content of the site or just get the hell out of your parents basement, go outside and get some fresh air.
Oh, and third: get this straight, when you click on an ad on any site, you are NOT giving away your money to the site owner, this is pretty obvious of course, but it seems to be the general mentality with you people.
Now for the reason I have ads on this blog: To make money. That’s right, I said it! But let’s get real here, do I expect to get rich out of them? No, of course not, but if I make a couple of bucks because somebody clicked an ad that interested them, then that money will just get used to pay for another month of hosting or for the renewal of the domain or something like that.
So please! You don’t have to surf our sites, read our posts or click our links, but we don’t have to (nor want to) hear or read your retarded comments about something we already know and understand, and that you clearly don’t!
