Switched to Firefox 3 RC1

Earlier today I decided to finally switch to the release candidate of Mozilla Firefox 3. My previous Firefox installation was getting a little cluttered with plug-ins and I was getting real long delays every time I opened a new tab. So I was about to do a clean re-install of Firefox and decided that I might as well get the latest code since I’ve been reading all the news and posts about it being much better and faster. First impressions are that yes, it seems indeed much faster, ajax sites like gmail and netvibes really do seem to load faster.

On a more negative note I found that the google toolbar still doesn’t support the rc1. I know what most of you are thinking. A browser toolbar? Seriously? But yes, the google toolbar grew on me mainly because of the gmail integration. Just the fact that it automatically sends those darn mailto: links directly to gmail makes it worth it because I was getting tired of outlook trying to start every time i clicked those things, which is rare, but still.. It also shows you the current page’s Pagerank which might be useful for some people (like me).

So being unable to currently use it I found another plugin that shows the Pagerank and some other very useful info about the site, it’s called SearchStatus.

Just FYI, the other plugins I’ve installed and use for quite a while now are Adblock Plus and the Adblock Filterset.G Updater, Firebug, Flashgot, IE tab, PDF Download, Tabmix Plus and of course the Web Developer plugin.
